Part 2 Information and Plot!

Part 2 will be be entitled "Unfinished Business", a sequel which focuses on the protagonist continuing his war on the organization he was once part of as he seeks to tie up a few loose ends, confront his internal demons, and once more save the world.

Here's the stoyline:

Garibaldi is dead. His magical hold over the land has been broken. The curse is lifted and the people are free at last after being trapped in time for a thousand years. And it's all thanks to Logan, a savior from the outside. As promised, Murlock helped Logan return to his homeworld with help from a magical medallion that serves as opening the portal between Earth and the realm of Iconoclast.

Two months of peace pass. Life returns to normal for the people of the land. No one will ever forget Logan's heroism and valor. No one...including the remaining forces of the Scourge, Garibaldi's followers who now bitterly consider Logan a traitor who single-handedly sullied their pride as the most powerful army in the universe. Determined to reclaim what was taken from them, resume their war on humanity, and ultimately exact revenge against Logan, the Scourge launch an all-out assault upon the land of Iconoclast, leaving behind a wake of death, destruction, and terror. One by one, the elemental swords fall into their hands.

With the armies of the land powerless to stop this new threat, King Edward, Queen Minerva, and the wizard Murlock know that only one man can save the world of Iconoclast once more.

Meanwhile, Logan continues to struggle with his internal demons. Despite having foiled Garibaldi's plans to exterminate the human race, Logan is still tormented by his memories and the loss of his beloved Katrina, whose sacrifice spurred his struggle and turned him against his master and comrades-at-arms. So when Murlock summons him back to Iconoclast through the medallion, Logan readily answers the call of duty, determined to finish what he started.

Once more, the people of the land are counting on Logan, the greatest hero they have ever known, to save their world. This time, the battle is even more personal because not only are the armies of the Scourge now commanded by Janus, his closest friend within the organization, and Revelin, his greatest rival among the Scourge and another of Katrina's executioners, but Anges, a young woman from Iconoclast who bears a striking resemblence to Katrina is among several hostages taken by the Scourge. Even Logan's own mother, the only family he has left, has been accidentally transported to the realm of Iconoclast and now he must rescue her. But most of all, the Sword of Darkness has fallen into the hands of the Scourge who have freed from within it's blade the soul of Raven Dark, the evil dark wizard to whom Garibaldi long ago sold his soul for great power. And it seems Raven Dark too has some unfinished business to attend to in Iconoclast.

Logan can't help but wonder: has his own meddling brought forth a far greater menace than Garibaldi? And what will the people think when they discover out that their hero is a traitor to the very army invading the land?

Logan must fight his way through forests, crypts, chapels, monastaries, wastelands, caverns, canyons, war-torn cities, mansions, before he can infiltrate the Scourge's heavily defended fortress, rescue the hostages, recover the elemental swords, deal with his former friend Janus, settle the score with Revelin, and ultimately confront and vanquish Raven Dark within his palace. Only then will his tormented soul finally be at peace.

Part 2 Work Begun!

For those of you who have played Scourge of Humanity, you'll be pleased to know that I've already started work on the sequel. As I said last year before I started work on part 1, I was going to do a complete remake and reimagining of the whole LOI trilogy.

Since the original part 2 was seen by many as the weakest entry in the trilogy due to its shorter length, part 2 will definately get a remake and become bigger and better than the original part 2. Like Part 1, Part 2 will have improved level design quality, more new levels, improvements to the storyline, more new music tracks, etc.

And since I now know about lighting and implementing the difficulty system, I probably won't spend as long on part 2 as part 1, depending on the free time I have! Looking back through the original levels, I've decided that practically every level will get replaced in the remake!

If you enjoyed part 1, you'll really love part 2! The next post will have more information, including the plot!

Differences In Storyline

Due to the fact that this is a remake, numerous changes have been made to the story for improvement. Here I will detail the changes to perk everyone's interest (may be some spoilers):

-Names of protagonist and antagonist have been changed. Their personalities and character have been altered. Caleb is replaced with Logan and Tchernobody is replaced with Garibaldi. Character development of all characters is improved.
-Time of story is changed to 1918 instead of 1872.
-Antagonist isn't plotting to curse Earth, but seeks to exterminate mankind.
-There is no festival being held in the protagonist's home city that is postponed due to the invasion.
-The characters of Cecil (though he is still mentioned), Penelope, Erdrick, Eliza, Iconoclast I and VIII have been removed.
-The flashback scenes involving Cecil and Iconoclast IX have been removed.
-The protagonist is not captured aboard the ship.
-Edward plays a lute, not a harp.
-Iconoclast IX's wife did not die. The couple did have a child who unfortunately died.
-The swords of Ice and Storms have been renamed Water and Sky.
-Edward wielded the sword of Earth instead of the sword of Fire. The Iconoclast royal family was never in possession of one of the swords.
-The sword of Water was in possession of Cecil.
-The sword of Fire was owned by Garibaldi's father, an archmage.
-Murlock isn't aware of protagonist when he first enters the realm.
-The protagonist meets the spirit of king Iconoclast IX (and the queen) at the Iconoclast castle.
-The Cabal are replaced with the Scourge.
-The protagonist becomes involved in the flashback scene involving the antagonist's curse and the events leading up to it.
-Lazarus is no longer a soothsayer, but now a powerful wizard. The castle where a large portion of the game is set is no longer a memorial to him, but his home. He was the creator of the elemental swords (except the Sword of Darkness). The castle is not destroyed at the end. The protagonist never meets Lazarus.
-Protagonist is to be executed instead of being imprisoned in the dungeon.
-Edward and Minerva are cursed by the swords of Earth and Water and later freed by their power.
-Edward, Murlock, and Minerva are never aware of the protagonist's former ties to the antagonist.
-Edward and the protagonist free Minerva before the protagonist's battle with the antagonist.
-Antagonist is mortally wounded not by the protagonist but by his unseen master.
-The sword of Iconoclast, not Edward's harp is what undoes Garibaldi's curse over the land.
-Leoric (first introduced in part 2) is captain of the guard.
-Agnes is not a newborn baby, but instead is already a young woman when the protagonist meets her.
-The medallion is given to the protagonist by Murlock.

Release Date Approaching!

I've nearly finished implementing the difficulty setting and lighting of the levels. All that's left is to playtest it myself, get some playtesters from the Blood community, and then it will be ready for the public!

If all goes well, expect LOI: Scourge of Humanity to be released sometime around Easter!
